- Procures and distributes medications per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
- Replenishes medications in automated dispensing units and emergency drug containers; rotates and manages stock before expiration date; generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
- Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.
- Complies with sterile compounding regulations and practices.
- Restocks medication and IV room areas accurately and in a timely manner.
- Repackages bulk medications in unit-dose packages safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques.
- Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
- Completes and documents all assigned medication storage areas inspections at least monthly; identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
- Maintains logs, records, pricing updates, and other required documentation accurately; files documentation in appropriate locations.
- Keeps pharmacy neat, clean, and well-organized; performs IV room terminal cleans; keeps pharmacy equipment clean.
- Answers phones and window and makes stat deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas when requested.
- Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.
- Education - High School diploma/equivalent.
- Experience - 2-3 years pharmacy technician experience preferred, but not required. Must be at least 18 years old.
- Certification and Licensure - Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program (NHA/PTCB). Must attain New York State licensure for Registered Pharmacy Technicians within the introductory period of hire.

Position Overview:
Reports to: Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Supervisor
What you'll do:
Pharmacy Technicians/Inpatient assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians/inpatient work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
