    Principal Accountabilities

    Lead an overall organization of 30+ employees, overseeing project engineers, maintenance supervisors, leads and mechanics/technicians.

    Support the efficient operation of the plant and ensure equipment reliability meets production needs.

    Establish departmental goals and maintain focus on reliability and process improvement.

    Responsible for capital execution, including strategic planning, budgeting, and overall project execution.

    Collaborate with plant staff and key stakeholders to improve overall efficiency of the plant.

    Manages the installation and care of plant physical assets (building and equipment) so that the lifetime value of the Company's investment in these assets is optimized.

    Manages the technical and professional development of all assigned staff.

    Working in conjunction with Corporate Engineering, the Manager of Plant Engineering participates in the recruitment, selection, coaching, appraisal, and development of engineering and maintenance personnel.

    Utilizes the Company's Infor MP-2 Asset Management System and supports its use as a key management information tool.

    Prepares and manages the budgets and implementation plans for preventative/predictive maintenance, repair, capital, and reliability improvement expenditures (including the identification and management of necessary outside resources as appropriate).

    The Manager of Plant Engineering is accountable for adherence to various expense and capital budgets as assigned.

    Works closely with all plant management and other plant personnel to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, statutes, codes, and regulations as well as internal Company policies.

    Directs the operation and maintenance of all plant utilities systems.

    Directs the mechanical storeroom and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) staff.

    Leads plant energy management efforts, directs the PSM plan and supports Sustainability initiatives for the facility.

    Provides engineering input and oversight of plant / facility protection programs including regular inspection of buildings, fire protection systems, and security equipment.

    Effectively manages and controls costs associated with the use of outside contractors. Adheres to contractor compliance with security, food safety and people safety policies.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
    • Minimum seven (7) years' experience as a Maintenance Engineer
    • Good understanding of plant operations, equipment, and processes.
    • Good understanding of capital expenditure process and management.
    • A strong pattern of initiative
    • Highly developed leadership and teamwork skills
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Excellent organization and project management skills
    • Good written and verbal communication skills

    Strongly Preferred:

    • Current CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional)
    • Food Production and USDA experience
    • Ammonia refrigeration training with CARO certification
    • Experience in a manufacturing/processing environment
    • Bilingual skills – Speak/Read/Write (Spanish/English)
