Medical Receptionist


Reports to:
The Medical Receptionist reports to the Clinical Director.


Job Overview:

The Medical Receptionist/Front Desk Manager is responsible for day to day operations of patient customer service including answering phones, patient responsibility collections, scheduling appointments and assuring the schedule is operating as efficiently as possible.


Responsibilities


The medical receptionist is responsible for all duties carried out by the front office: You will be responsible for the outcome of these tasks, whether delegated or performed by you.


These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Scheduling of Patients in appropriate time slots
  • Answering of Phone and relaying of messages in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Collecting patient information accurately and entering accurately into the patient database
  • Verifying Insurance benefits and recording in system
  • Explanation of benefits to patients
  • Collecting signatures from patients on all necessary documents
  • Management of patient documents according to policies/procedures (scanning, shredding etc.)
  • Collection of money from patients for copays, deductibles, coinsurances
  • Collections rate needs to be 95% or higher consistently
  • Proper recording of money collected and reconciling at the end of the day
  • Assuring authorization for all visits is received in a timely fashion
  • Handling supply orders and deliveries
Assisting with physical therapy tech duties as required

  • Assisting therapist with patient exercises
  • Keeping clinic tidy and clean

Qualifications:


  • Education: High School diploma. Some medical assistant or billing program a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a customer service role. Experience in medical office preferred but not required
  • Personal characteristics: Friendly and welcoming demeanor. Excellent communication skills and articulation.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit at a desk working on computers and phones for most of the day.

Pay:
$ $19.00 per hour

  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)

Ability to Commute:

  • Columbia, MD required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Columbia, MD 21045: Relocate before starting work (required)
