Master's Thesis in the field of E-Drive Control:

We are strengthening our team in the Motor Control department at our Cottage Grove location for a Master's thesis starting in the summer semester of 2023.

Due to the increasing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles, the number of electric components in vehicles is rising. Three-phase drives are used within ZF as actuators and propulsion systems.

In this thesis, a novel method for calculating optimal set currents for three-phase asynchronous motors will be evaluated.


Your tasks:


  • Familiarization with fieldoriented control
  • Prototypical implementation of the method in Matlab/Simulink and as C code
  • Comparison with existing methods and other methods from literature
  • Identifying advantages and disadvantages
  • Documenting the results

Your profile:


  • Studies in the field of electrical engineering, energy technology, control engineering or a comparable discipline
  • Knowledge in control engineering, fieldoriented control and electric machines
  • First experience with Matlab/Simulink
  • Willingness to learn and work independently and resultoriented
  • Very good English or German skills
