    Description


    CORE POWER (founded in 2018) co-invests and co-develops advanced reactor technologies with major industrial partners, develops the market for floating nuclear solutions and leads the work to modernize rules and regulations to facilitate the deployment of nuclear power at sea.


    Purpose of the job:


    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer with a background in Nuclear and/or Mechanical Engineering to join our team.

    In this position you will be working to solve the design and regulatory challenges associated with maritime nuclear power.

    You will serve as the company's on-site liaison and be contributing member of the reactor development team with our strategic partners in Bellevue, Washington.

    This role requires a strong background in nuclear engineering principles, project management skills, and leadership abilities to ensure the successful completion of projects in a timely and efficient manner.

    The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear engineering or mechanical design, with a strong background in design, safety, or systems engineering.

    Responsibilities:

    Team Leadership:

    Provide leadership to drive company initiatives and priorities with strategic partners and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

    Set clear expectations, goals, and objectives for team members.

    Project Management:
    Plan, organize, and prioritize project tasks to meet deadlines and deliverables. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are understood and met effectively.

    Technical Expertise:

    Utilize knowledge and expertise in nuclear engineering principles to provide solutions and technical guidance and support to team members.

    Review technical documentation, calculations, and designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

    Problem Solving:
    Lead troubleshooting efforts and provide solutions to complex technical issues that may arise during project execution. Implement strategies to mitigate risks and optimize project outcomes.

    Communication:

    Serve as the primary point of contact for communicating project status, updates, and issues to relevant stakeholders, including senior management.

    Facilitate effective communication within the team and across departments to ensure alignment and collaboration.

    Desired Knowledge/

    Experience:

    Experience:
    Minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear engineering, with a strong background in design, safety, and systems engineering. Nuclear operational experience and qualification desired.
    Knowledge of relevant regulations, classification rules, and industry standards governing nuclear engineering and plant design.
    Project management and small team leadership skills, with a history of organizational success.
    Strong problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.

    Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build rapport with clients and stakeholders.

    Professional engineering license or certification is preferred, but not required.

    Previous experience working in an engineering firm serving the nuclear industry, nuclear shipbuilding or the US Navy Nuclear Power Program is desirable.

    Education
    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent on-the-job training and experience.
