Summary:


The QC Inspector located in Michigan City, IN reports to our QC Lead and is responsible for inspecting incoming parts from vendors, parts in process and finished goods to assure conformance to quality control requirements established by the company's engineering department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect incoming parts to prints, specifications and industrial standards, variety of test devices and measuring instruments.?
  • Use blueprints to find engineering data such as size, material, surface finished, thread, etc. in the Incoming inspection area.?
  • Inspect first piece of production run in the print shop area and where otherwise noted.?
  • Inspect finished sub assembly parts and finished product for quality of workmanship, calibration and conformance to standard or special parts list data.? Identify defects for repair or line correction.?
  • Periodically inspect inprocess work according to route and sampling instruction received from Quality Control Engineer.?
  • Advise Line Leaders and/or Quality Control Engineer of unacceptable parts or finished product.???
  • Perform disassembly and analysis on defective line units to determine failure modes, record information and advice Line Leaders, Quality Control Engineer of results.?
  • Sort scrap for assessment and disposition. Enter scrap data into MRM system.?
  • Responsible for general housekeeping in the assigned work area.?

Requirements:


Required Skills / Experience / Equipment Operation:

  • Have the ability to follow instructions and work in production operations responsibly.?
  • Must display and maintain a positive attitude.?
  • Must have willingness to work, learn and adapt in a fast paced environment.?
  • Must have good eyesight, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to differentiate between colors.?
  • Must pass a given mathematics test.??
  • Requires attention to detail to catch inconsistencies in parts and subassembly.?
  • Must have a good working knowledge in using prints, instruments, and gages.???
  • Capability of understanding engineering requirements and simple sampling techniques.???
  • Must be open to learning about varies of product lines.?

  • Ability to plan and work independently.?

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment is very fast paced.? Work is primarily conducted on shop floor.?
