Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The Microsoft portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects.

We are looking for a passionate individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world's largest online services.


The
Datacenter Engineering Design Manager - Americas - Execution Oversight Team position will fulfill a Region wide "Design Audit" role for Microsoft's US-West & Canada located datacenter campuses, supporting ongoing construction activities.

This role will serve as the Regional Design Support Leader to ensure campus design quality and intent are being met, traveling to multiple campuses weekly to support on-site personnel in design challenges.

This position will work in partnership with construction, procurement, cost & schedule management to improve project delivery performance.


As part of the regional Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Execution Oversight Team (EOT), the key responsibilities are to work cross functionally with other EOT members to provide oversight on the consistent implementation of the project service level agreement (SLA) and functional governance, perform project health analysis against the approved SLAs/scope/execution plan/cost/schedule, assist with the project setup, evaluate the site resource effectiveness, conduct spot audits, assist with onboarding and training of the site-based team.

The team will be dedicated to this scope and will not be assigned to specific projects or other functional/regional activities.

The project reviews and assessment will be as per the EOT roadmap and/or managed by exception should a critical priority be raised within the region.

The team will be based in a hub location and will travel together to the site as per the roadmap and business critical priorities.


Travel requirements:

50-75%.

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate with project architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate with construction, procurement, cost & schedule teams to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Facilitate timely response and enable seamless project execution.
  • Possess a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design and construction best practices.
  • Work with other technical and nontechnical groups in a fastpaced environment and do so with an even temperament.
  • Be a person of integrity, be methodical, detailedoriented with a dedicated work ethic.

Qualifications:


Required/Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in engineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or hightech industry
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing crossfunctional and/or crossteam projects.
  • Technical understanding of mission critical environments.
  • Experience leading teams of architects and engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large datacenter environments.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or hightech industry.
  • 5+ years of experience as project or team manager.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, organization, and leadership skills.
