The Zero Waste Specialists will be full-time employees and will be assigned an area of approximately 400 to 500 commercial and multi-family accounts in the City of Monterey Park residential and commercial customers.

The job will be to introduce the new mandatory commercial recycling program to these accounts, sign them up for the new collection service, educate them about how best to recycle in their business or apartment complex, monitor their performance, and ultimately maximize the amount of recycling.

Our Specialists will spend part of each day in the office compiling data and scheduling appointments, and part of each day in the field visiting accounts.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Sign up, educate and monitor customers in new City of Monterey Park (trash, recycling, organics recycling services) Represent Ware Disposal and explain City of Monterey Park's Waste Program to hundreds of single family and multi-family residential and businesses customers.


Provide logístical account support including, but not limited to: setting up contracts and overseeing accounts; increasing/decreasing service; identifying problem areas; determining container types, sizes, frequency and locations; establishing collection schedules.

Handle client communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on client deliverables and revenue

Conduct regular and ongoing business and multi-family site visits, perform waste assessments and determine appropriate service levels for trash, recycling and organics

Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports. Advise and support customers in setting up their internal recycling programs

Educate customers on waste reduction techniques, reuse and food rescue programs and vendors

Participate in public education and outreach activities

Educate customers on the latest recycling regulations (i.e. SB1383, AB 1826, AB 341, etc.)

Utilize outreach software to maintain and update customers' account and diversion data

Provide field observation notes for company reports, presentations, and social media outreach

Troubleshoot logístical and operational challenges

QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required

High School Diploma or equivalent required

One year of high volume Customer Service or Waste Industry experience preferred

Sales experience

Ability to effectively manage client relationships

Bilingual preferred (i.e. Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Armenian, Tagalog)

Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Physical ability to walk in the field for extended periods of time to visit customers

Ability to move carts and lift up to 25lbs.


SKILLS
Excellent customer service, social and communication skills, on the phone and in person

Enthusiasm and ability to promote the City's and Company's waste disposal, recycling, and zero waste education to diverse businesses and multi-family housing customers

Critical thinking and ability to assess customer needs and concerns

Creative approach to prevent waste, increase reuse, and improve recycling and organics collection

Experience and knowledge of CRM databases, MS Office programs, general technology savvy

Ability to assess challenges, creative trouble-shooting, and ability to address difficult customers

Good team player, collaborative and supportive of others on the team

Passion for environmental conservation and sustainability

Ability to maintain professionalism and positive attitude in challenging situations

Effectively engage with diverse audiences, establish trust, credibility and confidence

Listen to and build customer relationships, increase customer satisfaction and ensure commitments are met, both to customer and to program


Pay:
$ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
