- Lead by example.
- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
- Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, and provides suggestions for growth to management.
- Working with ovens, grills, fryers and other industrial equipment.
- Monitor food for rotation, freshness and safety.
- Maintain proper sanitation and kitchen cleanliness including but not limited to the cleaning of equipment as well as general tasks such as wiping tables, sweeping and mopping floors.
- Establish par levels on all products each shift to determine necessary prep.
- Assist in developing prep lists, recipes, par levels, and specifications for staff to follow.
- May be responsible for banquet, bulk, and ala carte menu production including both hot and cold preparations.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of ingredients and supplies as needed to prevent shortages.
- May require cooking in front of public for Banquets, which uniforms and stations should be clean and presentable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of 1 year of culinary experience with fish/meat fabrication.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Self- motivated and dependable.
- Able to multitask with good attention to detail.
- Flexible availability for schedule.
- Canterbury Park conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
- Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
- Flexibility of schedule is required. Available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
- This position requires frequent standing and walking. Able to lift 30-50 pounds.
- Proficient and accurate handling a knife and working in close quarters with others near industrial equipment.
- Reading orders, understand instructions and communicate with co-workers to make sure food is delivered hot and delicious.
- We employ a large kitchen team that needs to work together and create a consistent and pleasing dining experience for our guests.
- Kitchen work is fast paced and high stress with high temperatures, lots of people and loud noises.
