Minimum Qualifications
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:
Applicants must possess three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment.


Applicants may also be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.


Duties Description
Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Collect and compile data from OGS business units.
  • Coordinate with supervisor to collect business requirements and convert requirements into technical documentation.
  • Establish partnerships with business units to identify business unit needs and coordinate with supervisor to address needs.
  • Respond to business unit inquires and requests for new data reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts to prepare data visualization and reports.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts to develop reports, visualizations, dashboards, scorecards, and queries for use by analysts and business users.
  • Utilize and maintain an internal master reporting repository that includes data sources and metadata.
  • Identify data trends and identify programs' risks based on these trends.
  • Compile other adhoc data analyses based on current needs and executive management priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments


At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam.

Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.

While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
