Description
Under general direction of the Controller and working in collaboration with the Finance staff is responsible for managing and the reporting of financial information, support of the monthly close process, general ledger process and other Finance responsibilities to allow Villa of Hope to grow and fulfill its mission through implementation of core agency strategic initiatives.
Must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in a deadline-oriented workplace while effectively carrying out all job responsibilities with fidelity and accountability to the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles and Strategic Plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Exercises full compliance with the Agency's Code of Conduct, all Agency Policies and Procedures.
Maintains confidentiality and security for all client and staff related materials and/or records.
Prepare and data enter journal entries related to month end processes, cash and bank reconciliations
Works with internal agency partners to provides fiscal and process review, effort management, closeout and reporting oversight
Ensure grants and contracts are managed in compliance with all applicable standards at the local, state, federal, and public/private level
Ensure financial transactions are recorded in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
Support legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Assist with the annual audit, special projects, and analysis as assigned by the Controller, and CFO.Responsible for preparing, reviewing for accuracy, and distributing general ledger and departmental budget reports to appropriate programs and departments on a monthly basis.
Includes balancing program and departmental budget reports to ensure accurate reporting and providing explanations as necessary.Maintain tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts
Analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Monitor incoming payments from accounts receivable and outgoing payments from accounts payable
Provide analysis of accounts or general ledger trends as necessary.
Create agency financial reports with the above information included
Analyzing data collected in order to determine the state of the agency's financial health
Analyzing data to understand where the agency is generating and losing revenue
Analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.

Proactively builds and supports effective working relationships with all Agency Program, funding agencies and Support functions including Finance Staff.
Ensures a visible presence among staff and is accessible, supportive and helpful to all levels of Finance and Agency staff.
POSITION SPECIFICS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA/CPA Candidate Preffered
Experience: 3-5 Years Experience as accountant preferably in a non-profit organization with a budget of at least 10 million.
Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have demonstrated interpersonal skills as well as analytical and abstract reasoning skills as well as excellent organization skills.
