The General Studies Principal of Shearim High School is responsible for providing strong instructional leadership aligned with Arizona academic standards, fostering a productive learning climate, and ensuring the health and well-being of students and staff.

Reporting to the Head of School, the General Studies Principal oversees all aspects of the general studies educational programming, staff development, and school operations to promote academic achievement and student success within a Jewish educational context.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Leadership:

Develop and implement instructional strategies aligned with Arizona academic standards to promote student learning and achievement.

Provide guidance and support to teachers in interpreting test data and using assessment results to improve instruction and student outcomes.

Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and make necessary adjustments to ensure success in all academic programs.

• Staff Development and Supervision:

Select, orient, and develop school teachers to ensure a high-quality learning environment.

Supervise and evaluate staff members, providing regular feedback and support for professional growth.

Assist in interviewing, observing, and evaluating teachers to maintain high standards of teaching excellence.

• School Climate and Discipline:

Nurture a productive learning climate that promotes respect, positive relationships, and a sense of belonging among students and staff.

Supervise the school discipline program and ensure the enforcement of school policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.

Maintain cooperative relations with all members of the school community, including students, parents, faculty, and staff.

• Curriculum and Program Development:

Collaborate with teachers and educational resources to review and revise curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners and promote academic rigor.

• Professional Development and Continuous Improvement:

Attend and actively participate in school faculty meetings, in-services, and collaborative planning sessions.

Engage in the process of continuous school improvement, working collaboratively with staff to identify areas for growth and implement action plans.

Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.

Experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and staff supervision, preferably in a 9-12 educational setting.

Strong understanding of Arizona academic standards.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Commitment to fostering a positive school climate.
