The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for generating catering revenues of sales of function space, food and beverages, and other hotel revenues by initiating, developing, and maintaining client relationships through prospecting efforts, sales calls, on-site hotel visits, attendance at trade shows, networking and industry events, and other activities as needed, to achieve revenue and performance goals.


Pay:
$60,000 per year


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform booking, event, and activity tasks within Delphi management system.
  • Respond to and initiate sales inquiry calls and personal visits to the hotel, to book events, explain menus, policies, and benefits, and give tours of the property.
  • Develop new ideas to improve the sales and promotion of the Catering and Food and Beverage service of the hotel, in conjunction with Sales Department, Marketing, and Food and Beverage Department.
  • Assist in achieving or exceeding budgeted goals in sales, profit, and occupancy for the total hotel operation.
  • Maintain effective communication between all hotel departments to ensure execution of client events and positive interdepartmental working relationship.
  • Attend scheduled sales, catering, food and beverage, daily business review, departmental, credit, training, networking, and any other meetings as requested by the Director or hotel senior leadership.
  • Prepare and negotiate catering sales agreements including food and beverage minimums, space assigned, and contractual terms to minimize hotel risk, and maximize revenue opportunities on behalf of the hotel, with appropriate discretion, in accordance with defined booking process.
  • Suggestively sell menus that meet the client's needs and core profit areas to maximize hotel revenues.
  • Prepare Banquet Event Orders, Group Resumes, and change requests as needed.
  • Manage event attendance estimates and forecasts and ensure that firm guarantees are obtained and communicated within established guidelines by property and business type prior to scheduled function.
  • Coordinate food, beverage, setup, table arrangements, audiovisual, and entertainment with clients.

Job Skills and Qualifications

  • College degree in a related field (i.e. hotel management, business management, marketing) preferred.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written and ability to provide legible communication.
  • Knowledge of different events and meeting setup styles.
  • Experience in sales, services or event planning for food and beverage, services, or related hospitality products.
  • Experience with Sales and Catering Software systems for events and customer relationship management local or webbased.
  • Certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service preferred.
  • Culinary training preferred.
  • Certification in an alcohol awareness program (TIPS) required within 60 days of employment preferred.
  • Certification as Certified Professional of Catering & Events or Certified Meeting Professional preferred.
