- Provide targeted support for high school students in dual enrollment/early college programs, ensuring a smooth academic and social transition into university life.
- Advise high school students on dual enrollment courses and the application of the state core coursework transfer agreement to these courses; assist Academic Advising Center with student registration during peak periods.
- Assist students transferring from community and technical colleges, focusing on the integration and articulation of their previous coursework into university degree programs.
- Support returning students through degree completion programs by providing counseling and resources to facilitate their successful reintegration into the academic community.
- Serve as the contact person for assisting/advising students in their transition back to the University after a period of suspension.
- Facilitate communication and information flow between students and various campus services, including academic tutoring, financial aid, and mental health services.
- Provide resources and support to ensure student success in dual enrollment and early college courses.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and refine academic pathways and transition programs that accommodate the diverse needs of incoming and returning students.
- Work closely with external partners and other educational institutions to ensure that transfer processes are efficient and student friendly.
- Serve as a liaison between Dual Enrollment& Early College Coordinator and Fairmont State University Deans to coordinate the scheduling of FastTrack course offerings.
- Assist the Dual Enrollment Coordinator in managing and expanding the dual enrollment programs, including curriculum alignment and student advising.
- Design and implement resources, training, and/or orientations that prepare students for academic success at the university level.
- Coordinate training and support for faculty as appropriate.
- Serve as a liaison between Fairmont State and partnering institutions to facilitate academic articulation agreements.
- Ensure that articulation agreements align with university standards.
- Participate in meetings and committees related to transfer policies and articulation agreements.
- Provide guidance and support to prospective and current transfer students regarding credit evaluation and transfer processes.
- Conduct regular reviews of articulation agreements to ensure current and accurate information is available to students and faculty.
- Distribute informational materials and resources related to transfer pathways and articulation agreements (where appropriate).
- Coordinate with admissions, advising, and other relevant departments to streamline the transfer process for students.
- Coordinate all aspects of the RBA degree program and serve as the institutional point of contact for prospective and declared RBA students.
- Respond to requested RBA inquiries, registrations, degree audits, and graduation verifications, which necessitates the ability to determine tasks by priority.
- Evaluate students' academic histories from pre-enrollment until graduation verification, including transcripts, licenses, and certifications submitted for prior learning assessment.
- Stay current on university policies affecting admission, transfer credit, general education, and graduation requirements.
- Assists in reviewing contracts and other documents to ensure all contractual requirements are fulfilled and in compliance with state regulations.
- Assess the effectiveness of transition and RBA programs in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and articulate findings to university administration.
- Assist in coordination of course-level assessment.
- Document and share best practices in transition support with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participates in relevant workshops, conferences, and professional development.
- Establish and maintain an appropriate network of professional contacts.
- Remains current with state and federal regulations related to dual enrollment, Core Coursework Agreement, best practices in transfer articulation and other educational transitions.
- Serve on the Prior Learning, Testing and Placement Committee.
- May represent the provost office on committees and at various meetings.

Fairmont State University is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as the Academic Transition Specialist working collaboratively with the Dual Enrollment Coordinator in supporting students entering university life from high school through dual enrollment/early college programs leading to matriculation.
The position also works closely with faculty and staff in supporting students transferring from community and technical colleges through course/program articulations and re-entering to complete their degrees.
The specialist will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, external partners, and educational institutions to create seamless academic pathways and enhance student retention and success.
Student Support, Advising and Transition ManagementMaster Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field. (Bachelor Degree considered with relevant work experience).
