    Role Description

    Kantar Consulting Retail, Sales & Shopper is seeking a Director of Research for our Retail Advisory Delivery team. This individual will be primarily responsible for research design, analysis, and project oversight/execution for our Retail Advisory practice, providing strategic guidance and delivering custom research with our consultant-client leads. This role will have a high level of one-on-one client and internal team collaboration and interaction.

    As Director Research & Insights, you will be responsible for:

    Client Leadership: In partnership with Advisory consultants, help foster relationships, becoming a trusted resource to key client contacts by demonstrating Kantar's capabilities to help solve their issues.

    Offer/Study Strategy:Understand client issues and apply Kantar's shown research approaches to address their business questions.

    Execution: Lead projects using various internal/external resources and primary and secondary data and information to provide customized solutions for our clients in a high-quality, timely fashion. Directly deliver client work on projects through an ability to analyze data and develop client-facing material that leads to strong insights and actionable outcomes.

    Effective Communication: Use effective communication skills in-person, over the phone, and via email with internal and external clients. Develop an approach/system for communicating key project considerations with team members. Ensure project timelines & deliverables are met and key client questions are answered.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop research study designs to address key business questions by implementing qualitative and quantitative research approaches to drive actionable insights and client implications.
    • Partner closely with Kantar Consultants and Advisory Delivery team and other internal teams (i.e., Shopper & Category Insights, Creative Services) to work collaboratively and deliver the combined power of Kantar to solve client business issues.
    • Lead research project delivery including launch, timelines, budgets, sample, status, and problem-solving calls with vendors and internal teams.
    • Communicate with vendors and customers to set expectations for design, fieldwork, and delivery to meet final data availability dates for clients.
    • Communicate project status to the internal team regularly, proactively identifying any threats to project timeline or budget.
    • Support selling efforts of research via helping with scoping, and answering client questions.
    • Lead all aspects of the logistics and coordination of research, providing direction throughout the life cycle of a project (programming/scripting, data collection/fieldwork, data processing, etc.)
    • Conduct secondary research.
    • Leverage story-telling skills (integrating multiple data sources including qual/quant results, secondary data sources, trend information, and data analytics) to prepare highly polished presentations that deliver insightful, strategic, and actionable insights.

    Success Profile

    • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with primary shopper/consumer research.
    • Passion for solving business questions, strong knowledge, and experience analyzing a wide variety of data types.
    • A robust knowledge of primary shopper/consumer research (including both qualitative and quantitative research) and a strong level of comfort in conducting analyses that vary greatly in complexity.
    • Shown experience in using data inputs to develop compelling, strategic narratives.
    • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into high-impact insights and recommendations.
    • Experience in behavioral data analysis (using secondary data resources such as syndicated or panel data) is desirable but not mandatory.
    • Past experience demonstrating a strong competency in supporting/handling client relationships, with a track record of strong client satisfaction.
    • BS/BA Degree, preferably in business, marketing, or social sciences
    • Excellent project and time management skills. Candidate must be very well-organized, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment simultaneously juggling multiple projects, deliverables, and deadlines.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to mentor and support more junior team members
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with SPSS and other data analysis tools is a plus, as is being comfortable with trying new software platforms such as video editing, databases, or other data analysis tools.

    The salary range for this role in Chicago is 113, ,000.00 USD Annual. Your final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to location, work experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
