Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day and boarding school serving approximately 700 students from age three through 12th grade.

The campus is located on 140 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the School is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.

Annual Giving and Stewardship Associate

Summary:

Sandy Spring Friends School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our Advancement team as an Annual Giving and Stewardship Associate.

The Annual Giving and Stewardship Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the school's fundraising efforts by managing annual giving campaigns, cultivating donor relationships, and ensuring thoughtful stewardship of donors.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan, implement, and evaluate annual giving campaigns to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, parents, and friends of the school to increase philanthropic support.
  • Coordinate stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters, donor recognition events, and personalized communications.
  • Support the administration and stewardship of endowed funds.
  • Write, design, and edit advancement materials including annual fund brochures, appeal letters, and quarterly newsletters.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Director to develop strategies for donor engagement and retention.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and provide regular reports on fundraising progress.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Stay informed about best practices and trends in annual giving and stewardship.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising, annual giving, or donor relations preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in donor management software (Veracross preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Canva, and Finalsite.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend events.

Physical Requirements:

Daily desk work including extensive amounts of computer and phone time; ability to navigate stairs as part of daily routines, mobility around a large campus with uneven pavement; bending and squatting to access files; lifting/carrying boxes weighing up to 25 pounds; and the ability to rearrange furniture for events is also required.


Please note that the School has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, which requires that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination, which includes a bivalent dose of the vaccine given on or after 9/1/2022.
