- Greets residents in the office lobby and answers questions
- Receives residents' paperwork and distributes them to the appropriate team for processing
- Assists applicants in completing forms and securing documents and other verification needed in completing forms
- Clarifies and interprets appeal rights and procedures
- Gathers and reviews financial and other pertinent information from applicants and clients to be used in determining eligibility for all categories of public assistance
- Informs applicants and recipients of relevant requirements and benefits of programs for which they may be eligible
- Clarifies and interprets to clients their appeal rights and procedures
- Informs recipients on an ongoing basis of changes in laws and regulations affecting their continuing eligibility
- Enters pertinent data into computer systems and uses appropriate systems to gather and verify data on applicants
- Processes benefits for residents, including SNAP, Medicaid, and Cash programs
- Determines the need for recovery of funds or referral for fraud investigation
- Triages and sorts mail; checks, sorts, and forwards emails
- Performs related work as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations
- A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigationwith fingerprinting
- Applicants must demonstrate verbal and written fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized demonstration.

Boulder County Housing and Human Services Department is seeking to hire 4 Bilingual Human Services Eligibility Technicians.Our lobby staff are professionals who are the first point of contact for all residents entering into our lobbies requesting information or assistance with their public benefit.
Staff greet residents, answer questions, accept paperwork, ensure the paperwork makes it to the correct team, and at times will process paperwork.
Our lobby staff is the "face" of our team for all visitors and will be responsible for the impression that we make.
The ideal candidate will have a friendly and easy-going personality while also being perceptive and disciplined.You should be able to deal with a heavy in person workload, can deal with complaints with ease and give accurate information.
A customer-oriented approach is essential as we strive to deliver the best in public service.
This is a fast-paced environment, and you should possess strong communication and project management skills while maintaining attention to detail.
Our values should be those you embody including owning your mistakes, adaptability when things don't go according to plan, dedication to going above and beyond for not only our residents, but to all employees, and choosing direct honest candid conversations over back-channel gossip.
Additionally, this person will support current processes improvement with the goal of continuous improvement using LEAN and process improvement strategies to ensure quick and accurate information given to our residents.
This position requires in office work most of the week (expect 3-4 days in the office) the other day could be worked remotely.
In office work will include working out of one of our three different offices:St Vrain Community Hub (515 Coffman St #100 Longmont), Boulder Annex Office (3460 Broadway Boulder) and/or SE Hub (1345 Plaza Court North Lafayette).
Under FLSA guidelines, this position isnon-exempt(eligible for overtime).Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range:
$55, $67,240.00 annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month.
