The opportunity

Core Job Responsibilities:


  • Supports strategy development, cost savings initiatives, development of procurement tools and data, and supplier interactions.
  • Assist with data gathering and analyses necessary for supplier selection, category strategy, supplier segmentation, and supplier negotiations.
  • Escalate divisional supply issues related to suppliers within supported category. Analyzes possible solutions to supplier issues using knowledge of supplier capability, supplier performance, and internal customer needs. Communicates pertinent information to global procurement, internal customers, and suppliers to keep apprised and to prevent problems.
  • As necessary, support divisions with resolution on issues contributing to nonstandard work, including: invoicing issues, supplier delivery performance, quality events, etc.
  • Execute against category strategies with guidance from strategic category leaders.
  • Educate divisions on existing and potential solutions through procurement forums and sharing of global category strategies, tools, and data.
  • Serve as representative on project teams representing the needs of the assigned categories and assure projects adhere to global category strategy.
  • As necessary, support divisions with multidivision supply agreements, and supplier negotiations
  • Create and execute RFIs, RFPs and RFQs
  • Request for Information (RFI)
  • Request for information from suppliers related to capabilities, capacity, sustainability initiates, global footprint, etc. for development of strategies.
  • Request for Proposal (RFP)
  • Request to suppliers to provide a solution to a problem or project

Examples:
development/co-development of a component or product or automation of a process.

  • Request for Quote (RFQ)
  • Request to suppliers to provide cost to produce a component, assembly, device which has been specified/designed by Abbott.

Strategic Thinking:


  • Proactively seek innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, supplier selection, supplier segmentation, expansion of diversity suppliers, and support to sustainability initiatives.
  • Full understanding of the "One Procurement" strategies. Develop strong knowledge and project work across multiple categories that impact the team positively.
  • Works within defined processes and procedures and may help determine appropriate approaches for change.

Relationship Management:


  • Build rapport with suppliers within supported categories and support development of supplier relationship management (SRM) objectives.
  • Seek and support business relationships with diverse suppliers.
  • Meet regularly with divisional customers and support functions to ensure connectivity, alignment and continuous improvement.
  • Exhibit cultural awareness with foreign business entities.
  • Seek, develop, and maintain business relationships with suppliers and division stakeholders.
  • Be a key contributor to projects as assigned.
  • Thinks proactively about issues before they may arise and makes peers and leadership aware of risks/issues.

Compliance:


  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures

Accountability:


  • Strong sense of urgency to resolve issues and support needs of the business.
  • Executes against the goals set by the Category Leads/Managers.

Minimum Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree: Engineering, Science, Business, or Financial Degrees.
