Year-Round Youth Leadership Coach

Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the One Summer + Summer Youth Employment summer programs. Responsible for hiring, placing, and retaining over 40 youth 16-24 for year-round program.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the mission of SER
  • Shows interest and concern for all youth, recognizes youth as "customers," and treats them with respect
  • Work with the Manager of Youth Services, Youth Service Coordinator and Program Coaches and Coordinator to develop a calendar of events, Passport to Success workshops, and MYCHIMY Future workshops for 40 youth in CYSC as well as Survey.
  • Maintains accurate record of student attendance by keeping daily rosters
  • Actively works to maintain youth retention by meeting with participants with excessive absences, drop potential, or other difficulties
  • Uses the assessments that have been developed by respective funding sources for youth in all cohorts and provides assistance for employers to complete assessment
  • Assists to recruit employers for subsidized work experience
  • Continually reviews files, city span data entry, and maintains accurate record of youth attendance
  • Ensures youth, coaches, and employers complete surveys
  • Reflects no ethnic, racial, religious, political or sexual bias
  • Maintains professionalism in dress and appearance
  • Oversees program ceremonies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications


  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with Opportunity Youth
  • Experience with supervising
  • Ability to travel to various locations in Chicago and valid Illinois driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be willing to become a mandated reporter
Desired Qualifications


  • BA/BS degree in education, social services, youth development, psychology or related field or must be working toward degree and two years related work experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Knowledge of employment and training programs
  • One Summer Chicago Experience
