Human Resources Generalist, Payroll (Hybrid in Durham, NC; Chicago, IL; or Washington, DC)**The Human Resources Generalist, Payroll is an HR Associate on our Partner Solutions Human Resources team and is a member of a growing team of HR consultants at Arabella Advisors who provides expertise-based services to a suite of non-profit organizations with whom Arabella works, primarily the New Venture Fund. In this role, you will execute the payroll, as well as the new hire and termination processes for Arabella Advisors' nonprofit affiliates. Additionally, you will provide exceptional service to clients and internal stakeholders, as well as coordinating, triaging, and escalating external client communications via a case management system.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Supports payroll administration, including aggregating employee changes, collecting documentation, updating HRIS and ensuring stakeholder adherence to payroll timelines
  • Processes documentation for payroll change requests, drafts and sends employee memos, and maintains associated data flow systems
  • Assists in the termination process, including payroll processing, communication with offboarding employees, closing out employee system access in a timely manner, and notifying other stakeholders across Arabella of upcoming departures
  • Processes documentation for new employees, change requests, terminations, and maintains associated data flow systems
  • Provides exceptional daily service to client staff, communicating quickly, effectively and efficiently
  • Supports project spinout process, including maintaining records related to expected outstanding HR expenses and answering information requests from spinning projects
  • Supports triage, tracking, tier 1 support, and assignment for case logging system
  • Assists with ad hoc data requests to support management and financial requests, including HRIS, Salesforce, timekeeping, and training systems.
  • Proactively suggests process and systems improvements to senior team members
  • Maintains employee electronic files in compliance with policy and legal requirements. Maintains employee confidence and protects confidentiality of personnel data

To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Need

  • 2+ years of experience
  • Some payroll experience, preferably with experience using the UKG platform.
  • High level of technological proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and general cloudbased systems.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and resourcefulness in problem solving
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Outstanding organization and prioritization skills ability to manage multiple demands, projects and deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Passion for philanthropy, nonprofits, foundation operations and management.

While this position must be based Durham, NC; Chicago, IL; or Washington, DC, please note that all Arabella Advisors' offices have reopened, and we work in a hybrid environment.


We reopened our offices in Summer of 2022 and work with a hybrid workplace strategy to ensure continued flexibility for our staff, while deepening our strong culture rooted in collaboration and in-person interactions between colleagues.

We expect that after their initial onboarding, all Arabellans will have the choice of two hybrid schedules. Our hybrid schedule options include Flex, with 1-2 days per week in the office, or Office-based,
