Accounts Payable Specialist

Basic Functions

  • Review accuracy of agency bills and pay them according to agency policies.
  • Log all client payments and process all client credit card activity.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accounts payable systems, including purchase order to invoice matching, data entry, and preparation of manual and computer generated checks.
  • Process invoices in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure payments are accurate, timely and comply with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained prior to processing payments and payments adhere to approved contracts.
  • Prepare and maintain cash disbursement journals and accounts payable log.
  • Communicate with program personnel and vendors to answer questions and troubleshoot.
  • Ensure invoices are charged to appropriate cost centers and accounts.
  • Maintain paid invoice files.
  • Assist Controller with preparation of specialized reports as needed.
  • Allocate invoices to respective general ledger accounts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly staff trainings.

Skills / Knowledge

  • Detail oriented and organized
  • 10key
  • PC literate with a proficiency in Windows operating systems
  • Time management
  • Verbal and written communication

Education / Training

  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit bookkeeping systems.
  • At least 12 college level accounting units preferred, however experience may be substituted.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of accounts payable experience.

Special Conditions

  • Must be willing to undergo random drug screenings.

Pay:
$ $30.00 per hour
