- Uses strong mechanical aptitude to perform a variety of fleet maintenance activities (i.e. using hand and power tools, operating vehicles, operating riding lawn mowers and light duty equipment).
- Under guidance from other Fleet Mechanics, performs preventive maintenance and light duty repairs to City vehicles and equipment
- Maintains accurate and complete records of all maintenance activities, identifies parts and supplies required using computerized systems provided.
- Uses City vehicles to run parts and provide pickup and delivery services.
- Assists with shop cleanup activities and routine safety inspections.
- Demonstrates safe equipment operation and work habits in the Fleet shop and on the road.
- Must have a valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.

Public Works Department
The Public Works Department is comprised of Engineering, the Water Treatment Plant, Utility Field Operations, Street Maintenance, Fleet Services, and Environmental Services.
The department is responsible for the environmental management, design, construction, and maintenance of the street, water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure systems in the community.
The Fleet Services division provides purchasing, maintenance and repair support for all City vehicles and equipment.Position Responsibilities
The Fleet Services Seasonal Maintenance position uses hand tools and power equipment to perform a wide variety of maintenance and support activities for the Fleet Services department.

Position Requirements
Education High School Diploma, or equivalent (G.E.D) required.
Work Experience:
Must be 18 years or older. Experience in an automotive or truck related field preferred. Must have a valid Minnesota driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to lift/carry/pull at least 50lbs. frequently, 50-75lbs. occasionally. Occasionally needs to work outside in cold, hot, wet and/or windy conditions.

All Maintenance Technicians must demonstrate safe equipment operation and working conditions on City streets, in parks and while working in the shop.
