Job Description:


The Human Resources and Finance Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the human resources and finance functions of the organization.

This position will assist in the smooth, timely, and error-free processing of financial and benefits information by processing data, creating reports, composing minutes, and filing information.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, and working closely with the Human Resources Manager, the Specialist will help manage the organization?s confidential personnel and finance data; assist with employee benefits and collective bargaining agreement administration; provide confidential administrative support to management and executive staff in the finance and human resources functions; and provide confidential administrative support to the executive and management bargaining team responsible for collective bargaining negotiations concerning terms and conditions of employment for represented staff.


Previous experience with one or more of the following is required: payroll, accounting operations, budgeting, audits, benefits administration, and / or tax filings.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.


Employment Status:
Full-time, exempt, non-union position; based at our Chicago, Illinois office.

  • Responsibilities:_
  • Maintain (in digital format, physical files, and finance and HRIS databases) accurate and uptodate employee records related to payroll taxes, PTO, benefits, and personal contact information.
  • Provide meeting and documentation support for Finance Director, Human Resources Manager, and Executive Director.
  • Create confidential financial reports (including graphs and PowerPoints) regularly and asrequested for management.
  • Assist with biweekly and monthly payroll reports including union database management and remittance of union dues.
  • Ensure accurate minutes are taken and distributed after meetings related to financial issues, and executive/management strategy sessions.
  • Support the annual audit, 990 tax return filing, budgeting, and accounting operations as needed.
  • Assist Human Resources team with recruitment: job posting, interview scheduling, benefits enrollment, orientation, and onboarding of new staff.
  • Assist the executive and management bargaining team in preparation for collective bargaining negotiations, including preparation of proposals.
  • Attend collective bargaining sessions as a member of the management bargaining team with primary responsibility for maintaining accurate bargaining notes and minutes.
  • Monitor office postage meter funds, procure office supplies, manage daily mail and bank deposits, and pursue other tasks as assigned.
  • Salary and Benefits_
Salary range for the Human Resources and Finance Specialist is $60,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience.
