The Petersburg Family YMCA is seeking a part time dependable and self-motivated individual who can assist in ensuring the cleanliness and appearance of the facility.

This part time position starts at $12.00 per hour based on experience.


DUTIES of a Custodian


Must maintain and keep building facility and property in clean and orderly condition such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and vacuuming in addition to gathering and emptying trash.

Ensure all restrooms, locker rooms, hallways, stairwells, program rooms, fitness centers and outside grounds are clean and safe. Move furniture and equipment as required to properly and thoroughly clean areas including windows. Assist with setting up rooms for meetings and events and breaking down of seating and equipment. Ensure bathroom supplies including and not limited to, toilet tissue, towels, and soap are refilled. Notify managers regarding the need for repairs. Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions. Establishes goals, clarifies tasks, plans work and actively participates in meetings. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Able to operate motorized and non-motorized equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS of a Custodian
Minimum of 16 years of age. Reliable transportation. Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.

Occasional work outside the facility to clean the facility grounds such as removal of debris and during inclement weather requiring snow removal.

Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours.
