- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair substation equipment and hydro plant and dam equipment (generator wiring, control equipment, battery banks and chargers, brushes and commutators, plant and dam wiring including lighting and hoist motors).
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair oil, gas vacuum, air, and air blast circuit breakers and associated energy sources.
- Maintain vaults.
- Wire control panels, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, battery chargers and battery banks, AC/DC supply panels, and high voltage potential transformers and current transformers.
- Perform electrical testing as follows: power factor, motion analysis, ductor, transformer turn ratio, transformer combustible gas, transformer oil gas analysis, oil acidity, oil dielectric, ground resistance, phasing, battery and capacitor testing.
- Install conduits, computer data equipment, computer wiring and connections, microwave, data telephone equipment, and fiber optics.
- Maintain, troubleshoot solid state equipment/circuits, repair, and restore same.
- Maintenance includes mechanical and electrical systems.
- Arrange for company-related outages as directed by the System Control supervisor and Distribution Dispatcher.
- Arrange for outages with customers and independent utilities.
- Perform all system switching and grounding work as required, as well as all switching necessary for maintenance work.
- Respond to all substation and power plant emergency calls 24 hours/day and analyze problems that arise.
- Be able to switch using the TASNET computerized switching system.
- Review and update schematic and construction prints, field engineering of schematics and adapt prints to company's standards, field engineering of equipment changes.
- Maintenance on company-owned buildings and installation and repair of associated equipment (heating, cooling, lighting equipment).
- Point Beach Nuclear Plant Peak Maintenance duty-associated refueling activities including modification and maintenance tasks.
- Moving, set-up, and testing of mobile substations necessary for transformer work or in cases of transformer failure, at both companies and customer locations.
- Be a current State Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
- Have a minimum of two years' experience as a max rated Electrician/Plant Electrician/Substation Electrician occupation within the last 10 years.
- Have an Associate's Degree in an Electrical field such as Utilities Engineering Technology, Substation Tech or equivalent military training.
- Have successfully completed 2 years of electrical engineering coursework at an accredited post-secondary school.
- Technical diploma in an Electrical Power Distribution or equivalent.

Job Summary
Construct, install, inspect, maintain, repair, and operate all electrical equipment, both AC and DC, transmission and distribution, located in substations, power plants, company-owned buildings, and customer-owned facilities.
Job ResponsibilitiesApplicant must meet one of the following requirements:
Electrical Aptitude Test (EAPT): A test to measure aptitude in mathematics, electical concepts, process flow, signal flow, and electrical schematics & sequences
Suggested Preparation:
Review of basic electrical concepts such as current flow, basic schematic drawings and diagrams, and electrical connections
Test:
Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST)-Electrician level: Comprehension of pictured mechanical principles such as gears, levers, pulley systems, water flow, etc.
