Job Summary:


The Human Resources and Safety Generalist will develop and implement HR and Safety strategies compliant with federal and state laws in alignment with the company's strategic goals.

Responsible for the areas of safety compliance, HR administration, training and development, employee relations, incident management, compliance, and wellness and employee engagement.

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Safety Compliance:Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal (OSHA) safety regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures.
  • HR Administration: Responsible for HR functions, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, benefit administration, employee relations, and offboarding. Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases. Process changes related to employee benefits, leaves of absence, and payroll.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate and perform training programs for employees and management, including new hire orientation, emergency response drills, safety education, and internal development opportunities. Document employee participation in trainings.
  • Employee Relations: Address employee inquiries and concerns in a prompt and courteous manner. Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Act as a trusted resource for employees.
  • Incident Management: Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and nearmisses. Document incidents and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences. Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting safety concerns and incidents. Serve as primary workers compensation coordinator and OSHA recordkeeper.
  • Legal Compliance: Stay informed about changes to labor laws, safety regulations, and industry standards. Ensure that all HR practices and safety protocols align with legal requirements and organizational policies, including the Employee Handbook.

Employee Engagement:
Develop and implement wellness initiatives aimed at promoting employee health and well-being. Organize wellness and engagement activities, such as health screenings, company appreciation events, and community outreach. Assist with employee engagement survey process.

Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Proven written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and/or talent management systems.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, strong organizational skills, and followup / follow through skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to conduct training in front of groups.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in HR and/or safety roles.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Position will require quarterly business travel.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.

Pay:
$60, $65,000.00 per year
