Saia Inc., is a publicly held Top 10 LTL freight shipping company with 160+ locations in North America. As a member of the IT Leadership team reporting to the CIO, the Director of Infrastructure and IT Operation will lead a team that is responsible for the performance and reliability of Saias infrastructure and operations including standards definition, design, deployment, operation, and support of the core computing environment, phones, end user support, desktop/laptop and server support, as well as messaging and collaboration applications, data center management, D/R and business continuity strategies, network and capacity planning. This individual will have strong hands-on technical infrastructure and operations experience, project management and excellent vendor management skills, be an adept leader of people and have a superior, service-oriented approach to IT operations.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of IT department operations including IT infrastructure (servers, laptops, mobile devices), communication (LAN, WAN, email, VOIP, etc.), backup, security systems, disaster recovery (DR), regulatory compliance
Maintains overall security of the companys network, systems, and data
Ensures high availability of critical business systems
Owns and maintains overall backup and recovery strategy (Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity) and maintains data/system backups and recoverability
Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work assigned team members; assigns work activities, projects and programs; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures; meets with team members to identify and resolve problems.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the IT group including service management/ ticket system, work assignment and providing high level reporting
Prepare overall status and activity metrics that document and tracks delivery of IT services, system availability and outages, response times and other key IT metrics
Manage overall capacity utilization, and optimize infrastructure to meet business requirements
Champion IT infrastructure standards, procedures, policies, and best practices for network, servers, databases, wireless technology, file & print services, VOIP, etc.
Create and ensures processes and procedures are in place and executed to meet SOX, PCI and regulatory compliance controls.
Works with business operations teams to ensure IT change management procedures are followed without impacting business processes.
Builds and maintains relationships with other IT and business leaders to understand business needs and provide cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs
Develops and controls the IT operations annual operating and capital expenditure budget and manages expenses to stay within plan.
Assess new external and internal technology capabilities such as cloud technologies, and help implement and integrate them with the existing IT operations environment
Provide strategic direction for IT Infrastructure and End user service delivery, including ITSM, and guide team to implement best practices via Service Now
Develop and manage supplier relationships and contracts

Requirements:

Minimum 10 years of IT experience with 5 years of progressive management experience
Familiarity with the iSeries/ AS400 is a plus
Must have a working knowledge of Windows Servers, Active Directory, and MS SQL, core Network/Cisco technologies like LAN/WAN, subnets, firewalls, VLAN's, and VPN, SDN, UCCE, and Cyber-Security tools such as Cisco Iron Port and Umbrella
Experience with on premise and public cloud environment such as AWS or Azure
Certifications in Microsoft/Cisco/Citrix/ VMware technologies preferred
ITIL or PMI Certification is preferred
Willing and capable of hands-on technical trouble-shooting, if required
Ability to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Must be very proactive in understanding and staying up-to-date on the current projects in progress, projects in pipeline and operational issues.
Demonstrated ability to deliver on complex projects on time and on budget
Proven ability to run a highly-effective support organization delivering high quality services
Deep and broad understanding of modern computing technology, systems and network architecture, data management, information security, and cloud-based services
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent preferred
