Director of Practicums and Church Relations - International Theological Seminary

Part-time: 20 hours per week

Reports To:
Vice President of Student Life

Brief Description:

The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all functions needed for building and maintaining relationships with churches and nonprofit sites for the seminar.


The principal responsibilities of this position include:

  • Advising students on practicums
  • Administering the program and maintaining records
  • Supervising students throughout practicums
  • Working with site supervisors Building relationships with outside organizations

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, cultivate, and evaluate practicum placement sites in congregational, nonprofit, and communitybased settings.Maintain and update informational materials (electronic and print) regarding field placement sites, ensuring that students have access to the information.Develop and lead online orientations for Practicums.Develop and present the story of ITS to potential ITS partner churches and organizations.Work with students (online and oncampus) to help them discern vocationally and learning goals and offer possible placement sites accordingly.Facilitate the practicum process so students and practicum sites benefit from the placement.Oversee the creation and evaluation of learning agreements between students and supervisors to ensure a rich, smooth, and productive practicum.Maintain contact with site supervisors and students to answer questions, monitor agreement changes, or help with problems.
  • Maintain confidential files.
Coordinate quarterly evaluations with students and supervisors. Participate with local and national field education organizations.


Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in Theology or Ministry
  • Great people skills
  • Administrative and Supervisory experience (23 years)
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Ability to relate to students and others with pastoral sensitivity
  • Ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision
  • Highly organized and professional in approach
