In the past few years Mistwood Golf Club has expanded into a hospitality company.

Not only does the company manage a high-end, semi-private golf course, but also three restaurants (McWethy's Tavern, McWethy's Sports Bar, The James), two banquet facilities (The Great Hall at Mistwood and the Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station) and a sports dome (Mistwood Golf Dome).

While each property is a different concept, they share one important characteristic:
each is an exciting place where enthusiastic people come together to create a special experience.

The
Restaurant Server at The James will report directly to The James management team.

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • Contributing to the establishment, promotion, and protection of The James brand.
  • Genuinely caring about people and their experience, displaying a positive attitude toward people.
  • Completes steps of service to ensure utmost guest satisfaction, while continually communicating with The James management team to ensure operational flow.
  • Understands and can describe menu, ingredients, and drink offerings, packaging/presentation and pricing.
  • Representing The James in a positive manner and establish rapport with guests.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure the best possible guest experience. Ensuring show quality standards are always maintained.
  • Effectively uses suggestive and upselling techniques.
  • Responds to guest needs and requests. Helps fellow staff members whenever necessary.
  • Performs important guest service functions including, but not limited to, empty plates and glassware, wiping down tables and setting up for dining at your station; maintains service areas.
  • Adheres to location appearance guidelines at all times during your shift, while employing good safety, sanitation and hygiene practices.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency and provides friendly, efficient service to staff members and guests.
  • Assists in the timely delivery of food when needed.
  • Communicates all guest issues directly to management to ensure guest are properly taken care of.
  • Thoroughly and accurately uses applicable POS system and technology.
  • Follows responsible alcohol service policies by validating all identifications of guests 30 years or younger prior to serving an alcoholic beverage.
  • Follows cash handling and tip reporting guidelines.
  • Thoroughly completes all station setup and breakdown responsibilities, and any other tasks directed by The James management team.
  • Always on time and ready to perform all required duties, with great communication skills.
  • Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities and ensuring that all health and safety regulations are satisfied.
  • Always assisting in marketing of The James brand to help increase business levels.
  • Ensures that all security, safety, and sanitation standards are achieved.
  • Follows and enforces responsible alcohol service practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Food Handler certification as required by the state of Illinois.
  • Food Allergen certification as required by the state of Illinois.
  • Sexual Harassment certification as required by the state of Illinois.
  • BASSET and/or TIPS Responsible Alcohol certification as required by the state of Illinois.
  • Ability to taste and evaluate food and beverage products.
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers, guests and staff members by speaking and comprehending English. Reading, writing, math, and computer skills required.
  • Lifts and transports up to 25lbs.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
  • Stamina to work through the hours of a shift or as business dictates.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts, including day shifts, night shifts, weekends, and some holidays.
