Program Driver/Recovery Specialist


REPORTS TO:
Operations Supervisor


General Description:

To support and facilitate a team approach at Gavin-Quincy it is the expectation of all Gavin Foundation, Inc. staff to pitch in as needed for our clients benefit.


SUMMARY OF POSITION

Work with a team comprised of medical professionals, clinicians and case managers to provide support, counseling and community referrals to individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Drivers/Recovery Specialists will have direct contact with clients and monitor their daily recovery progress. Responsible for maintaining the safety of clients, facility and provide understanding and direction to the clients in program.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely transport program clients to medical, social service appointments, next step placements and discharge.
• Assisting Client's through the admission process
• Process Client's clothes to prevent bed bugs
• Storing and securing Client's clothes
• Ensure the safety of resident's (physical and emotional) well being
• Ensure that the program policies are followed and document any deviation of said policies
• Provide crisis intervention when necessary
• Assisting with discharging and escorting patients off of the premise
• Operate program van safely
• Maintain the vehicle by regularly checking the engine fluids and tire pressure.
• Utilizes standard precautions at all times, maintenance of CPR certification and understanding of emergency procedures
• Ensuring clients attend groups and counseling as assigned
• Ensuring clients participate in meals
• Clean spills as needed
• Keep the van clean
• Provide supervision to clients during designated smoking breaks (Staff are not allowed to smoke with clients)
• Follow program guidelines on rules for clients
• Building cleaning as assigned
• Other duties as assigned including assisting Recovery Specialists

Requirements:

• Valid Massachusetts Driver's License
• Clean Driving Record
• If in recovery from alcohol/other substances must have two year of continuous sobriety
• Must meet Massachusetts CORI requirements

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Working knowledge of 12 Step Programs
• Must be a team player and work well in a challenging environment
• Knowledge of or desire to learn Motivational Interviewing Skills
• CPR certification and Nasal Narcan training

$24.00 per hour

• Working knowledge of

Substance Abuse: 2 years (preferred)

• Working in a Detox: 1 year (preferred)
