Job Title:

Reports to:
Special Education Director
Primary Purpose:
Collaborate with staff to plan and provide behavior-related services for students with disabilities. Provide
intervention to eliminate or reduce behavior problems resulting from impairments that interfere with
students' ability to derive benefit from the educational program. Provide ongoing training to district
employees and parents.
Terms of Employment:
Salary:
In accordance with the annual salary schedule approved by the Management Board of the
Freestone-Navarro Bi-County Co-Op. 10 months / 187 days per year, term or probationary contract, as
applicable.
Qualifications:
BCBA or currently attending a BCBA program
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of three years working in a setting with students with behavioral/emotional disabilities
- Minimum of three years teaching in a special education classroom for students with
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of intervention strategies for students with Autism, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance, and any
- Ability to work positively with students and parents, within the parameters of the educational setting
- Excellent organizational, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide support, interventions, and strategies to classroom teachers.
- Assist with functional behavior assessments for designated students.
- Assist with BIP development and teacher implementation thereof, for designated students.
- Assist parents and teachers to implement strategies both in the home and at school.
- Collaborate with diagnosticians to recommend appropriate placement and services for eligible students.
Consultation:
- Serve as a consultant to parents, teachers, administrators, school counselors, and transportation
- Serve as a member of the ARD committee, as needed.
Program Management:
- Provide behavior management training.
- Provide intervention program for designated students, as appropriate.
- Assist with social skills training to designated students.
- Provide parent training to parents of students with emotional/behavioral difficulties.
- Practice punctuality and work within required timelines.
- Make appropriate use of available technology.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills essential to effective job performance.
- Participate in appropriate continuing education for professional growth.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with state, federal, and local guidelines.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Special
Communication:
- Form good interpersonal and working relationships with district personnel.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to individual and cultural differences.
- Demonstrate positive interaction and rapport with students and their families.
Other:
- Perform any and all duties as assigned.
- Successfully advances Co-Op initiatives.
