Scope of Responsibility:


This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, providing leadership and training to store staff, and all other aspects of the retail store.

Providing excellent customer service, maintaining inventory, and supervising staff are critical elements to the smooth operation of the store.


Essential functions include:

A. Manage the daily operation of the store

B. Ensure excellent customer service is provided by all staff members

C. Supervise and train cashiers, stockers, and Asst. Managers

D. Timely opening and closing of the store each day

E. Verify and prepare all cash drawers for the day

F. Verify and refill change boxes

G. Operate lottery machine


  • Run reports and balance daily
  • Validate new tickets
  • Return tickets when game ends
H. Verify and balance prior day receipts


  • Investigate and resolve differences when cash does not balance to sales
  • Take deposit to bank on daily basis
I. Ensure store is always appropriately staffed


  • Monitor and adhere to budgeted amounts for labor
  • Rotate employees as necessary when scheduling hours to be worked
J. Monitor staff work performance and provide timely and appropriate feedback


  • Prepare and present 90 day and annual performance appraisals of staff
  • Coach staff on areas of needed improvement
K. Create accurate transfer In and/or Out Slips

L. Create accurate vouchers for invoices

M. Compile and submit month end paperwork to corporate office

N. Oversee price checking; inform cashiers and stockers of price changes

O. Foster the company mission and philosophy

P. Establish and maintain customer relationships

Q. Utilize RPro to maintain appropriate inventory levels


  • Perform scans of inventory as scheduled by Operations Manager
  • Review computer generated order for accuracy
  • Regularly place or oversee accuracy of cigarette, pop, ice and snack orders
  • Regularly place or oversee accuracy beer orders
R. Monitor sales trends

S. Assist District Manager with interviews of job applicants

T. Conduct monthly store meetings

U. Take special orders from customers and relay to appropriate Buyer

V. Maintain cleanliness, attractiveness, and design of all store displays

a. Pay close attention to displays of glassware, plasticware, olives, barware, etc.

W. Maintain store appearance both inside and outside

X. Attend all required professional development classes

Y. Attend bi-weekly management meetings

Z. Be in attendance and participate in store tastings

AA. Ensure store security


  • Daily - Confirm recording devices are operating properly
  • Monitor customers and employees for suspicious activities and report any such to Operations Manager
BB. Adhere to specific standards set by District Manager for each of the above functions

CC. Serve as a member of the General Management Group and assist in the management of the company.

Responsible in all matters to protect and uphold the reputation of Belmont/Chalet and those served, being attentive to issues of confidentiality, public relations and long-term planning.


Secondary functions include:


  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the District Manager or other member of the Executive Management team.
Meeting the expectations of this position occasionally requires work beyond forty-five (45) hours per week. It is also expected that the Store Manager will be available to work all holidays.


Position Requirements:

A. Education, Licenses, and Experience


  • Indiana permit to sell alcohol required
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Management experience preferred
  • Retail sales experience
B. Skills and Knowledge


  • Able to use good judgment in dealing with public and employees
  • Computer/cash register skills
  • Effective decision making ability
  • Knowledgeable of various forms of identification
  • Knowledgeable of legal requirements for purchase of alcoholic and tobacco products
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively with city/county/state police and excise police
  • Basic knowledge of alcoholic and tobacco products

Pay:
From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 per week
