Description

An Assistant MEP Designer will assist in various phases of planning, studies, report preparation, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and construction administration as part of a project team.

This position will work on facility and infrastructure focused projects for Aviation, Federal (Department of Energy), and Commercial clients.

Lead the 3D modeling and physical design and layout of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and equipment based on diagrams or other verbal or written description from the design engineer.
Assist in producing flow diagrams and one line diagrams from verbal or written description from the design engineer.
Work collaboratively utilizing design systems for the production of design deliverables.
Assist with a full range of drawing production work including design analysis, design layout and calculations on nonroutine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
Assist with initial rough designs or sketches and redlines or markups on ongoing projects.
Assist in performing a variety of routine assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, incorporating various system components, and refining rough sketches.
Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into MEP design and layouts.
Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and projectrelated information in a logical and wellstructured manner.
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field and two years related experience or associate's degree and three years related experience or four years progressive detailing and design experience.
Self starter and strong motivation to learn and grow.
Strong understanding of Revit design software and Excel to develop design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utlize new design sofware programs.
Basic knowledge in design, calculations, and MEP systems.
Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of MEP engineering disciplines; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multidiscipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
This position will be performing Federal related project work for Burns & McDonnell's clients. A qualified applicant must have the ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization to the clients' facilities.
