    GENERAL PURPOSE:


    The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester invites applications for a full-time therapist position to join the Collaborative Care & Wellness Division and the Wilmot Cancer Institute to expand behavioral health supports to provide access to oncology patients.

    This position is integrated into the cancer center and will play an important role in growing the psycho-oncology program. The mental health therapist will collaborate with members of Wilmot's disease management care teams.

    The therapist provides shorter-term mental health services for individuals who have a diagnosable mental illness, and functions as the primary clinician and is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, and therapy/counseling for patients in the program.

    The successful candidate will have expertise in evidence-based treatments, is interested in working with oncology patients, will be skilled in collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and is committed to addressing mental health inequities.

    We are seeking a qualified master's level candidate (LCSW or LCSW-R, LMFT, LMSW or LMHC) with strong clinical and diagnostic skills to join our vibrant team.

    Previous experience in integrated settings a plus.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment performs complex psychosocial assessments and diagnostic formulations for patients when indicated. Ensures the development and
    • implementation of comprehensive and individualized treatment plans for patients with clearly defined therapeutic goals.
    • Conducts evidence-informed treatment with patients, and with families as necessary. Provides direct
      individual therapy to assigned patients. Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.
    • Conducts evidence-informed treatment with patients, and with families as necessary. Provides direct clinical
      evaluation services to assigned patients. Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.
    • Conducts evidence-informed treatment with patients, and with families as necessary. Provides direct
      family therapy to assigned patients, including evaluation, individual, family therapy and crisis intervention. Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.
    • Conducts evidence-informed treatment with patients, and with families as necessary. Provides direct
      crisis intervention to assigned patients. Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.
    • Assesses successful completion of therapeutic goals and plans termination of therapy accordingly.
    • Participates collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide coordinated care. Collaborates with referral sources and other professionals both internal and external throughout patient care activities. Coordinates with support staff regarding patient scheduling, fees, and insurance issues.
    • Documents treatment in patient's electronic medical record in compliance with Program, Department and Hospital regulations.
    • Attends new staff orientation as required by the Division, Department, URMC and discipline. Participates in all required Departmental and programmatic diversity trainings and professional development.
    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of, and follows, all Discipline, Collaborative Care Division, and Department of Psychiatry Mental Health and Wellness Services policies and procedures, as well as those delineated by OMH. Maintains professional standards and continuing education by reading, attending seminars, workshops and conferences, and staying up to date for the NYS requirements for maintenance of licensure as appropriate. Engages in annual and periodic performance review process with Program Director, supervisor, and clinical chief, where relevant, for the purposes of recognition of strengths and contributions, feedback, and continuous qualityimprovement relative to performance in the role as well as the Service needs.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree from a Counsel for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) accredited program with major course work in mental health counseling or a related field required.
    • 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
    • Knowledge about and ability to implement evidence-informed psychotherapeutic interventions required;
    • Commitment to and routine demonstration of biopsychosocial approach to care of individuals and families required;
    • Dedication to delivering a team-based integrated model of care required
    • Demonstrates cultural humility and anti-racism values and works toward ensuring all patients feel welcome required.
    • Requires NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Mental Health Counselor, Creative Arts Therapist) or limited permit eligible. If licensure has not been obtained upon employment, the individual has 36 months to obtain the NYS license.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range:
    $57,595 - $80,600 Annually

    _The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.

    Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
