- Work with the Dean of Divinity to identify the programmatic, recruitment, and philanthropic needs of SUDS.

- Independently manage and execute all aspects of the gift cycle: identification & research, cultivation, solicitation, and
- Develop, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of annual, major, special, and planned gifts for various constituents and strategic partnerships.
- Manage donor and prospect data, maintain an ongoing system of prospect research, and facilitate active relationships while communicating SUDS recruitment and philanthropic needs in a compelling manner.
- Develop written strategies, including target amounts and target dates for pipeline of prospects.
- Establish a global appeal and market for recruitment and fundraising support.
- Assess, develop, and execute revenue productive and cost-effective SUDS special events programs (i.e. Hampton Ministers' Conference Alumni Luncheon and Rally, etc.)
- Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, soliciting and securing gifts on behalf of Shaw Divinity and assist other staff with their solicitations (i.e. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
- Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition
- Manage and implement donor appreciation/ recognition efforts, cultivation/special events, and engagement strategies
- Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor data base and wealth screening tools
- Coordinate with the Dean of Divinity in the monitoring, writing, and proposing for grant funding that aligns with the mission of Shaw Divinity.
- Assist in developing and participating in a Capital campaign and major gift fundraising
- Budget management
- Coordinate with members of the Development Office team and the Dean of Divinity in the fundraising opportunities in established annual events such as the annual ministers' conferences, and the annual Circle of Preachers and Advocates of Justice Ceremony/Gala
- Plan, organize, and direct large-scale fundraising campaigns which include multiple components

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in fundraising/ business / communications, non-profit management, marketing, social sciences or in a related field; Master's Theological Education desired.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience designing, implementing, and executing comprehensive fundraising plans for all funding streams including major gifts, corporate, foundation, and annual giving; successful track record of raising funds with a growth track over time; knowledge of foundation grant funding and capital campaigns is a plus; OR equivalent combination of training and experience, preferably in higher
- Ability to effectively engage senior staff and Board of Visitors in solicitation and cultivation activities
- Highly proficient computer skills utilizing MS Word, Excel, and Power
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate through the development and composition of complex analysis reports and professional correspondence and formal
- Ability to effectively multi-task and produce accurate professional work products under demanding timelines.
- Intellectual agility, high professional standards, and demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute on multiple priorities simultaneously
- Flexibility and willingness to periodically travel independently and work extended workdays and occasional weekends as needed to meet desired objectives (i.e., Shaw Days, conferences, etc.)
- Demonstrated proficiency in proposal and report writing
- Ability to effectively articulate and persuasively communicate institutional mission and the need for financial support
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
- Legally operate an automobile in the State of North Carolina-valid driver's license

Description
The Director of Donor Relations, Recruitment and Strategic Partnerships (DDRRSP) reports to the Dean of Divinity and VP of Institutional Advancement or designee and is responsible for developing and implementing a multi-year fundraising strategy which enables Shaw University Divinity School (SUDS) to fulfill its mission; for managing relationships and securing support from donors. The DDRRSP conducts successful fundraising and will develop and implement an expansive plan for major gift fundraising and endowed scholarship investments. This position will work closely with faculty and staff, promote the acquisition of major gifts, and work independently and collaboratively with SUDS's constituents and partners in advancing theological education (i.e., GSBC, SUDSAA, Lilly Endowment, Board of Visitors, Churches, etc.)

Physical Demands
