    Established in 1996, NOVA was originally founded to provide Environmental Consulting, Geotechnical Engineering, and Construction Materials Testing and Inspection services to the design and construction community, largely in the southeastern United States.     NOVA Engineering's Charlotte, NC office has an immediate opening for a Geotechnical Department Manager (Senior Engineer). The Engineer/Manager is responsible for client development, technical execution and project management of work related to Geotechnical Engineering services, both office and field activities, during the planning, design, and construction phases of projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Preparing and executing geotechnical reports and other client correspondence
    • Providing oversight, QA/QC, analysis, laboratory testing and field services as required to meet our Clients' expectations as projects advance to construction
    • Client consultation and maintenance
    • Preparation of proposals and contract documents (under the supervision of a Senior Technical Professional)
    • Geotechnical engineering or Construction Quality Assurance Inspection/Testing duties, including data reduction, analysis & fieldwork for commercial, transportation, industrial, retail, government, office, residential projects;
    • Project management & reporting;
    • Assisting with advanced geotechnical calculations (foundation capacity, seismic considerations, liquefaction, etc)
    • Providing assistance to other NOVA team members to promote the overall objectives of the company.

    Requirements:

    • BS/MS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
    • 8+ years experience is required
    • P.E. (Professional Engineer) license is required
    • Construction Materials Testing & Special Inspections experience is preferred
    • The candidate must be able to perform tasks in varying field/lab/office conditions
    • The candidate must be computer literate and possess management and financial skills

    The position may require the ability to lift and/or move pounds occasionally, and the candidate must be able to accomplish field tasks under adverse weather and/or site conditions. The working environment can be moderately noisy to loud in nature, and some assignments may require working in confined spaces or climbing and working at above average heights. The candidate may be exposed to humidity, high temperatures, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Good vision and manual dexterity are required.

Our firm has professional and administrative support staff that includes registered professional engineers, registered professional geologists, environmental scientists, registered roof observers, LEED accredited professionals, soil/foundation engineers, laboratory specialists, materials technicians, ICC-certified inspectors, NICET-certified technicians, and AWS-certified welding inspectors. NOVA's facilities include AASHTO-accredited laboratories in soils, concrete, aggregate and hot-mix asphalt testing/inspection. We also have CCRL-inspected laboratories for concrete sampling, curing, and testing.
