    Sr. Accountant, General Ledger - Simply Biotech

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant, General Ledger at a biopharmaceutical company in Aliso Viejo, CA seeking an individual with:

    • Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • 5 years of accounting experience
    • Experience in Public Auditing
    • Hands-on experience with fixed assets and payroll analysis in the private sector

    FULL DETAILS: The Senior Accountant will assist in the monthly closing process, analyze and reconcile GL accounts, and take part in assigned audit tasks. This role requires excellent analytical abilities and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment, supporting monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing duties in a prompt manner. The Senior Accountant's work will adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, including having audit-ready schedules with IPE.

    The chosen candidate will be responsible for:

    • Ensuring correct capitalization of fixed assets and depreciation
    • Inputting all details into fixed accounting software and creating monthly capitalization and depreciation entries for the general ledger
    • Compiling the monthly Fixed Asset Rollforward
    • Conducting annual or quarterly impairment reviews
    • Participating in the annual OC Property tax return
    • Assisting in audits for the annual external financial statement audit and any governmental agencies (e.g., OC Property tax audit)
    • Preparing quarterly/annual government reports (census, FBAR, etc.)
    • Managing intercompany billings for EU sales and intercompany cross charges
    • Regular review of European subsidiaries monthly to ensure accurate accruals, AP payments, funding requests, and commercial sales billing
    • Performing monthly fluctuation analysis for SG&A cost centers
    • Recording monthly accruals for SG&A and R&D cost centers as designated (including clinical study accruals)
    • Entering month-end payroll entries (workers comp, PTO accrual, bonus accrual) and reconciling GL accounts
    • Completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations as assigned (fixed assets, payroll liabilities, etc.)
    • Assisting in the administration of the department's Close software (Blackline) and the company's requisition system (GRS) as instructed by the Associate Director
    • Investigating and resolving accounting issues
    • Conducting ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
    • Other assigned duties

    The selected candidate should also possess:

    • Proficiency in Advanced MS Excel
    • Strong grasp of U.S. GAAP
    • Capability to draft routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including rate, ratio, and percent calculations
    • Aptitude for addressing issues involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations
    • Excellent communication skills and an affable demeanor
    • Professional presentation
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; minimum of 5 years' Accounting experience, with at least two years in Public Accounting
    • Adaptability to change and a self-driven attitude
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines and work autonomously
    • Capability to interact professionally with all levels of management

    • Completion of required training as per the position's training plan maintained in the document control system
    • The essential training on TRN-10007 Insider Trading Policy, TRN-10008 Global Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy, and TRN-10009 Code of Business Conducts and Ethics must be diligently completed within 30 days from the hiring date and yearly thereafter

    Salary Range: $100,000-$115,000 per year
