Building Engineer Assistant / Apprentice - Schaumburg, IL

The Opportunity
Assist in the overall operations and management of a luxurious A Class multi-tenant facility in Schaumburg, IL. Administer solutions pertaining to maintenance, identify building issues and implement efficient solutions.

Provide hands on service in the areas of light repairs, painting, signage, drywall, carpet, exterior grounds door and general upkeep.

Work with the management team to improve processes in-order to maintain the property in mint condition.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Building Engineer Assistant

  • Support the designated leadership with the daily operations of all building systems, which includes hard surface maintenance and repair, basic carpentry, and metal work, operating, maintaining and repairing all facility system equipment associated with HVAC operations and mechanical and electrical systems
  • Respond to customer requests and submit and close work orders as necessary and perform other duties as assigned
  • Drive vehicle from site to site
  • Maintains and performs repairs to buildings, utilities, grounds, and equipment
  • Optimize the repair and maintenance of HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment, and systems
  • Practices and helps provide best practices to troubleshoot and repair equipment and system problems so that problems are resolved in the most efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains continuous operations of equipment by trouble shooting and repairing
  • Provide handson training and collaboration to other engineering team members
  • Fosters a work environment that promotes energy conservation and continuous improvement of engineering functions
  • Records all pertinent data in building logbooks and makes all appropriate daily entries
  • Conducts utility and equipment tests
  • Records pertinent data on all equipment in accordance with federal, state, and local codes and requirements
  • Process administrative paperwork in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Actively functions as a team member
  • Demonstrates commitment to quality of service
  • Complies with corporate facility policies and procedures
  • Complies and participates in facility specific safety program
  • Maintains regular attendance in the workplace
  • Provides highest quality of service to the tenants, staff, and visitors at the facility
  • Participate in regular required communication with Chief Engineer, management, tenants, and other staff

Education and Experience:


  • Qualifications matching the unique requirements of the Building Engineer role.
  • As required, highestlevel relevant state / local license for Stationary Engineer and / or HVAC, plus universal level refrigerant recovery license
  • Computer skills and building automation systems experience required
  • Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training requirements as required
  • Driver's license

Compensation

  • Full time position
  • US$ 75K to 100K
