About WakeMed:

Position Information:
The Child Life Supervisor assists the Child Life department in supervision coordination education and management of personnel to ensure consistent standards of practice and competencies in the delivery of patient care services on an assigned shift. The Child Life Supervisor understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission values and management of pediatric patient care services. The Child Life Department collaborates with other departments where pediatric patients are served within WakeMed Children?s. The staff of Child Life Specialists is responsible for assessing the psycho-social developmental and cognitive needs of patients while providing activities and experiences which ensure the best possible experience for the child and family. This role reports to WakeMed Children's Administration and coordinates the budget and staffing for the Child Life department. WakeMed Children's consists of multiple departments that primarily provide in-patient care to our pediatric patients under the age of 18. Areas include the Children's Hospital pediatric in-patient unit Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) Children's Emergency Department Newborn Nursery and Special Care Nurseries at WakeMed North and WakeMed Cary. WakeMed Children's initiatives are matrixed with WakeMed Health & Hospitals outpatient pediatric practice services for a seamless patient and family centered system.

Experience Requirements:
5 Years Clinical - Recreational Therapy Or Clinical - Pediatrics Or Clinical - Child-Life Program Required

Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree Child Development Or Therapeutic Recreation Required - And Master's Degree Child Development Preferred

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Certified Child Life Specialist Or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Required

Hours of Work:
M-F

Weekend Requirements:
As Needed
