    Job Description:

    Position Description:

    Crafts, builds, and deploys applications in a DevOps environment using a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. Crafts and develops RESTful Web Services using Java technologies. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Participates in architecture design teams.
    • Defines and implements application level architecture.
    • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
    • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
    • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
    • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
    • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
    • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
    • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
    • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
    • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
    • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
    • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
    • Mentors junior team members.
    • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
    • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer developing RESTful Web Services on Cloud platforms using Java within a financial service environment. Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer developing RESTful Web Services on Cloud platforms using Java within a financial service environment.

    Skills and Knowledge:

    Candidate must also possess:

    • Demonstrated Expertise developing RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using Java and Spring Framework; implementing security measures using OAuth2 and JWT; developing, maintaining, and deploying SQL scripts, procedures, Data Definition Language/Data Manipulation Language (DDL/DML) objects, and triggers to SQL and NO SQL databases Oracle, DB2, and KDB; and implementing OpenAPI specifications to improve API integration time using SwaggerHub.
    • Designing and implementing highly scalable and maintainable API architectures using design patterns -- REST, MVC, and Microservices; and implementing software design patterns -- Singleton, Factory, and Observer -- resulting in a modular and maintainable codebase.
    • Managing services -- EC2, S3, ECS, Lambda, and RDS to ensure high availability and optimal performance of applications; deploying containerized applications resulting in scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant systems using Docker and EKS; maintaining Kubernetes configurations and Helm charts enabling automated application deployment and rollbacks; and implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform modules to automate infrastructure management.
    • Working closely with cross-functional teams to implement Agile methodologies Scrum to enable faster, more efficient application development life cycles; conducting daily stand-up, retrospectives, and sprint demonstrations to ensure team alignment and continuous improvement; providing mentorship to developers to improve coding skills, design abilities, and overall productivity; and conducting regular code reviews using SonarQube, ESLint, and using pre-commit hooks.
