Medical Assistant Front Office - Santa Ana, United States - KPC GLOBAL MEDICAL CENTERS INC.
Description
SUMMARY
The incumbent will be responsible for fulfilling myriad administrative duties in front office, including billing
support, scheduling, coding, patient communication and filing.
REQUIREMENTS:
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintain medical charts and schedule appointments for staff.
- Perform routine medical data clerical tasks.
- Verify patient's health insurance coverage.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns;
- Serves and protects the medical practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures,
- Answer multiline phone system and take appointments or direct calls to the appropriate party
- Greet patients when they arrive at the office and provide them with any necessary paperwork or other
- Collect copays and other fees required prior to the office visit or treatment
- Direct patients to the lab area for scheduled blood work and other testing
- Verify insurance coverage and assist the billing department with processing claims
- Schedule appointments and confirm appointments two days in advance
- Assist patients with rescheduling appointments and other scheduling issues
- Communicate test results to patients when directed by physicians or nursing professionals
- Inform patients of credit card declines and other billing issues
- Performs other duties as requested.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be familiar with EHR/EMR system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Minimum of 6 months of experience is preferred
- Spanish bilingual is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Body Positions:
Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
Body Movements:
Arm and hand dexterity.

Must have command of close and distant sight, color perception and hearing.
Strength:
Ability to lift and move up to 25-pounds.
Working Environment:
- Work in an office, where the climate is controlled
- Occasional travel between medical groups and/or hospitals when necessary. 0-25 % of the time.
OSHA exposure category:
I
a. Category I - Position includes tasks that involve exposure to Blood borne Pathogens.
b. Category II - Position includes tasks that do not have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens,
however employment may require unplanned Category I tasks.
c. Category III - Positions includes tasks that do not involve exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
This position would not be required to perform Category I tasks
