Company Overview:MADE Hoops is the premier grassroots youth basketball events organization, hosting over 100 boys and girls basketball events in North America. Our programs offer elite competition, high-level coaching, professional event management, and extensive media coverage.
Job Overview:
MADE Hoops is seeking a passionate learner and proactive Basketball Recruiting/Sales Intern eager to gain hands-on experience in basketball event promotion, sales, and customer engagement. This internship is an opportunity to develop essential skills in customer relationship management, and team collaboration, with a focus on deepening understanding of sales and recruiting in the sports industry. The internship is ideal for someone looking to expand their knowledge of basketball and event marketing, with direct exposure to customer interactions and strategic outreach efforts. You'll play a crucial role in supporting MADE Hoops' efforts to reach new audiences by supporting event sign-ups and actively managing customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Knowledge & Sales:
- Develop a thorough understanding of MADE Hoops products, events, and services.
- Learn strategies for recruiting prospective teams/programs, generating leads, and converting leads into sales.
- Communicate the value of MADE Hoops events and products to new and existing customers, ensuring they understand how our offerings can meet their needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers to encourage ongoing engagement.
- Provide answers and support for customer inquiries about events, learning how to deliver exceptional service.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contributing to cohesive event marketing strategies and learning from experts in various departments.
- Practice organizational skills by managing and color-coding contact lists, and follow up regularly with customers.
- Engage in daily outreach efforts, including cold calling to prospective customers, aiming to reach 50+ contacts daily.
- Use social platforms to extend outreach efforts and develop an understanding of digital customer engagement.
- High-level event planning and execution, including but not limited to scheduling, team logistics, and operational coordination.
- Maintain and update key databases, including Google Sheets and , to optimize workflow and event organization.
- Serve as a liaison between elite grassroots basketball programs and MADE Hoops, ensuring top-tier client engagement and service.
- Facilitate strategic communication by scheduling meetings, recording key updates, and providing executive support to the West Coast Director.
- Work closely with other departments, including marketing and event teams, to align sales efforts with company goals.
- Assist in financial operations by managing invoices.
- Ensuring all logistical and operational needs are met as needed.
- Ensure all communications reflect MADE Hoops' brand standards, learning to communicate professionally and consistently.
- Adapt to the dynamic schedule required by the business, including working beyond standard hours.
- Provide customer support at all hours as needed, ensuring prompt issue resolution.
- Interest in gaining sales experience, ideally within sports or event settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to build meaningful relationships both in person and over the phone.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple customer interactions.
- A passion for basketball and a basic understanding of grassroots basketball is a plus.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Effective communicator with solid verbal and written skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and within a team.
- Driven and passionate about contributing to the growth of the MADE Hoops brand.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Familiarity with Google Sheets and other Google applications is a plus.
- Experience or knowledge of college athletics.
- Availability on weekends.
