    HERE The Senior Engineer, Spray Drying position in the Particle Engineering department is responsible for designing and tuning spray drying conditions to produce particles with specified physical properties and surface chemistry.

    This role interfaces with Formulation Development to ensure that selected formulations and operating parameters are compatible with antigen and adjuvant stability requirements.

    The ideal candidate possesses detailed knowledge of spray drying thermodynamics and kinetics modeling and has developed scaled-down models for characterization of spray dried unit operations and products.

    This role reports to the Head of Particle Engineering and will work alongside other VitriVax technical departments. This is a full-time position, located in Boulder, Colorado.

    This is a predominantly in-office position, however remote work may be granted periodically depending on the nature of required tasks.

    Responsibilities and Duties:


    Design and develop spray dry formulations and parameters that balance particle characteristics suitable for ALD coating and maintenance of antigen/adjuvant stability.

    Design, conduct and optimize laboratory-scale spray drying experiments, utilizing advanced equipment and techniques.
    Performs spray drying scaling to create products for partners and support technology transfer to GMP facilities or partners.
    Interpret data and translate findings into actionable insights for further development.
    Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., chemists, biologists, engineers) to translate research into commercially viable products.
    Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for spray drying processes.
    Stay informed about current advancements in spray drying, colloidal chemistry, and surface analysis techniques.
    Prepare technical reports, presentations, and proposals related to your research findings.
    Education and Experience

    Ph.
    D. in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field.

    Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with >2 years' experience in spray drying of complex materials (e.g., proteins, polymers, nanoparticles).

    Strong understanding of the principles of spray drying thermodynamics, kinetics, and their influence on particle structure, skin formation, and scale up.

    Experience with particle analysis techniques and interpretation of analytical data.
    Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to work independently and take initiative in driving projects forward.
    Proficiency in scientific writing and data analysis.

    Salary and Benefits:

    Annual Salary Range:
    $110,000 - $140,000 DOE and alignment with current and future responsibilities.
