Purpose of Position


The Kindergarten Readiness Coordinator will support the efforts of United Way of Lake County by assisting in the implementation of UWLC's Success By 6, Kindergarten Countdown Camp program.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Serve as coordinator for Kindergarten Readiness
  • Manage the daily operation of Kindergarten Countdown Camp
  • Oversee Kindergarten Countdown Camp volunteers on site
  • Help teachers prep materials and serve as mediator for parents and teachers
  • Assists in the site recruitment and students for Kindergarten Readiness and manage the daytoday programming
  • Serve as liaison between Public Schools and United Way of Lake County
  • Assist in field trips during the duration of Kindergarten Countdown Camp
  • Prepare important information for parents of children with a child entering kindergarten
  • Complete student assessments and data entry
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in social service, education, public administration or related field or a combination of an Associates degree and significant related experience
  • Experience in social services, community development or early education
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred
  • Demonstratable computer experience and knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is a must
  • Comfortable with various technology platforms and able to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, drive/operate a car, lift and carry bags and boxes of approximately 10 pounds; talk or hear, read, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, stoop, kneel, or crouch, type, operate a computer, calculator, copy machine and postage meter.
