TITLE:
Custodian-Evening


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Perform custodial duties such as clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchen, and other areas of assigned buildings in the District.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform essential duties
  • Six (6) months of custodial or cleaning experience (preferred)
  • State of Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Clean and maintain building and equipment.
  • Clean, sweep, vacuum, and shampoo carpeting and floors.
  • Mop, scrub, and wax floors.
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Clean woodwork, walls and windows.
  • Sanitize and deodorize restrooms; fill dispensers.
  • Clean kitchen and clean and dust offices.
  • Lock and unlock doors; turn lights on and off.
  • Set up classrooms, cafeteria, and other areas; prepares and sets up for concerts, assemblies, and events as needed.
  • Keep equipment and supplies in working order; request supplies as needed.
  • Move office and building furniture and equipment.
  • Report malfunction of restroom fixtures and light fixtures, or damage to room and furnishings to supervisor.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:


  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and standards.
  • Skill in using cleaning products and equipment.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Ability to verify receiving invoices, control inventory and assist in handling shipping carts as directed by the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Hazardous chemicals and dangerous machinery


PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Bend, stoop, lift, climb

Lift, move, or carry up to 80 pounds of materials

Climb to various heights and work in confined spaces

Operate large and small power driven machinery such as vacuum, sweeper, buffer or other similar equipment


WORK YEAR: 259 Days (12 month), 223 Days (10 month), 201 Days (Part-time)

Facilities Management for Learners/Elementary School/Middle School

REPORTS TO:
Lead Custodian, Director of Facilities Management for Learners
