    ABOUT THIS ROLE


    Aero is looking for a Manager of Safety to join our team As the Manager of Safety, you will act as Aero's Designated Employee Representative for the drug and alcohol program, manage the emergency response program, ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, oversee the company's Internal Evaluation Program (IEP), and any other duties as assigned.

    You will have direct oversight over any safety staff assigned to these areas and will be required to travel, up to 50% of the time, to Aero's numerous locations in support of their responsibilities.


    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage Aero's drug and alcohol program by developing and overseeing the Employee Assistance Program, identifying testing facilities/partners across all Aero locations and serve as the company liaison for testing service agents.
    • Coordinate DOT testing for various workgroups, taking immediate action based on results, providing policy training, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (14 CFR Part 120 and 49 CFR Part 40).
    • Oversee Aero's Emergency Response Program by revising and maintaining the Emergency Response Procedures (ERP) manual, assessing training needs, developing additional curriculum, executing company-wide emergency exercises, creating exercise plans and after-action reports, administering the emergency notification system, and managing relationships with external ERP vendors/providers.
    • Ensure company compliance with federal, state, and local OSHA regulations by maintaining a strong working knowledge of safety, security, and compliance requirements in both aviation and airport operations.
    • Maintain hazard-free workplaces across all Aero locations, examining workplace conditions to meet OSHA standards, ensuring employees have access to, and are utilizing safe tools and equipment.
    • Establish and continually update operating procedures, in collaboration with the leadership team, to implement safety and health standards and requirements.
    • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and rectifying cited violations by set deadlines by submitting required documentation.
    • Implement and develop an Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) and Compliance Monitoring Program that complies with the recommendations contained in AC 120-59B and industry best practices.
    • Put into action and develop an IEP Manual/Compliance Monitoring Manual (CMM), schedule, and applicable checklists.
    • Schedule, plan, and perform Internal Evaluation and Compliance Program (IECP) audits within assigned timeframes.
    • Oversee any assigned IEP/Compliance auditing Staff.
    • Coordinate ad-hoc internal audits applicable to 14 CFR, 49 CFR, DoD, IBAC, ARGUS, IATA, or other regulatory requirements pertinent to 14 CFR 135 operations.
    • Conduct/oversee audits of external entities/vendors (e.g., MROs, FBOs) as required.
    • Assist in the review of audit report findings, monitors development and implementation of corrective action plans and verifies the implementation of solutions and corrective action plans.
    • Systematically escalate problems or variances to the relevant recipients.
    • Coordinate and facilitate external evaluations of the air carrier (e.g., IBAC/IS-BAO, ARGUS, FAA, IATA/IOSA).
    • Communicate with regulators and industry bodies regarding audits, reports, letters of investigation (LOI), and inspection findings.
    • Assist in the investigation and development of corrective actions for events associated with the Aviation Safety Actions Program (ASAP), internal safety reporting or the FAA Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program (VDRP).
    • Prepare and present audit data collected to the Director of Safety and Security and company senior leadership at the Safety Management Review Board (SMRB).
    • Coordinate with other department leaders to ensure completion of all scheduled audits and reports IAW the audit timeframe.
    • Monitor trending IEP/Compliance Monitoring Data to identify organization top risk(s).
    • Perform research for regulatory compliance issues and provides recommendations or changes to existing manuals, policies and/or procedures to conform to the regulatory requirements.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of two (2) years of aviation experience with a 14 CFR Part 121, Part 135 or Part 145 certificate holder in an operations, safety, quality assurance, or a regulatory compliance-related role.
    • Advanced working knowledge of applicable 14 CFR regulations, IBAC/IS-BAO standards, IATA/IOSA requirements, etc.
    • Advanced knowledge of quality assurance principles including auditing, reviewing, and accepting corrective actions, and conducting root cause analysis.
    • Knowledge of safety management systems, including hazard identification, safety risk assessment, safety mitigation, safety assurance, and safety promotion.
    • Experience implementing and managing a DOT drug and alcohol program (Aviation industry experience is preferred).
    • Experience working with health and safety programs, such as an EAP.
    • Knowledge of OSHA standards/regulations for the aviation sector.
    • Experience with developing and managing an Emergency Response Program (ERP)
    • Must possess the ability to safeguard sensitive and confidential information.
    • Must be meticulous and highly organized.
    • Must possess the ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must have the ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Must possess an enthusiastic and energetic attitude, be highly efficient, and have a passion for problem-solving.
