10-month, full-time position.
The Learning Resource Associate is an educational support person who works with the Learning Resource Teacher, building staff, and students in the implementation of district goals and building action plans through the learning resource center (LRC).
The Learning Resource Associate should be familiar with the Dewey Decimal System, print and non-print processing procedures, on line card catalogs, library filing procedures, audiovisual equipment operations, inventory procedures, care of media and preparation of bibliographies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The Learning Resource Associate supports and assists the Learning Resource Teacher in the implementation of building curricular needs by:
- Assisting teachers and students in the use of learning resource materials, equipment, and computers;
- Supporting and assisting in the reinforcement of information skills;
- Collaborating with the Learning Resource Teacher on the development of the library budget; Supporting and assisting in the review, selection, and ordering of learning resource materials;
- Maintaining learning resource center inventories; receiving and processing LRC materials and supplies;
- Facilitating distribution and collections of PSC materials;
- Facilitating circulation procedures;
- Facilitating the repair and care of materials and equipment in accordance with District 54 Resource Procedures Manual;
- Supporting and assisting with strategies necessary for managing student behavior;
- Assisting and/or directing the training and utilization of adult and student volunteers. Participates in staff development and inservice sessions.
Requirements:
Ability and desire to assist students and teachers.
LTA (Library Technical Assistant) degree; or a minimum of one full year employment in a recognized school or public library; or, is agreeable to taking a minimum of three courses in a certified LTA program.
Willingness to become familiar with current children's literature. Willingness to increase knowledge in the area of technology. Ability to work collaboratively. Conscientious about attendance and punctuality.Salary:
