Anesthesia Technical Assistant Job Description
The Anesthesia Technical Assistant works in the operating team and acquires the necessary organizational, technical, and nursing knowledge for this role.
Responsibilities of an ATA include:
- Providing expert care to patients, taking into consideration their physical and psychological situation during their stay in the anesthesia area
- Independently organizing and coordinating work processes in anesthesia and its peripheral areas
- Preparing and setting up the induction room, operating room, and recovery room
- Preparing for upcoming anesthesia procedures, including setting up equipment and instruments for the anesthesiologist
- Assisting the anesthesiologist before, during, and after anesthesia in various specialty areas
- Reprocessing and disposing of anesthesia materials
- Maintaining and servicing medical equipment, anesthesia machines, and anesthesia materials
- Ensuring aseptic work practices are followed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good health and physical fitness
- 3year fulltime training program.
The training includes at least 1600 hours of theoretical instruction at the Health Professions Training Center and at least 3000 hours of practical training under expert supervision in mandatory and optional areas at the University Hospital Halle (Saale).
