Description
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of plan checking and plan review processes.
- Understanding of building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life safety, energy, housing, zoning, and related codes.
- Technologically savvy; as a technology focused company, the building official needs to be able to navigate our inhouse software and learn additional software as needed.
- Read and interpret building plans, specifications, and codes.
- Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, procedures, and other written materials.
- Establish and maintain a variety of manual and computerised files, recordkeeping, and project management systems.
- Organise and prioritise a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organise own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Manages established plan review and inspection processes including recommending and bringing changes when needed, in conference with leadership.
- Manages the plan review and inspection team, developing individual relationships with the plan reviewers and inspectors, addressing their concerns, supervising them, training them and leading them
- Builds cohesion and unity in the team through excellent leadership
- Does quality control of plan reviews performed by plan reviewers, sending out high quality plans.
- Meets and confers with department staff regarding interpretations of the building code, processing of complex projects, and the assignment and monitoring of work.
- Resolves interpretation issues relating to the adopted building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes; enforces Federal, State, and local regulations pertaining to construction.
- Maintains files, databases, and records related to building activities and projects; prepares a variety of written reports, memorandum, and correspondence.
- Performance of the work requires the use of independence, initiative, and discretion within established guidelines.
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of building, plan review, and permitting codes and regulations.

Education:
- Possession of related valid International Code Council (ICC) Certificates, specifically the CBO certificate. MCP preferred.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in building trades, construction management, community development, engineering, architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Seven (7) years of minimum combined experience in plan checking and inspection of building codes with a public or private agency.
Pay:
$90, $120,000.00 per year
