Class Summary

  • With the recent promotion of our Vice President for Student Affairs to Executive Vice President, College of the Mainland is conducting a national search for a new Vice President for Student Affairs. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, the Vice President creates a studentcentered culture fostering a strong sense of belonging and wellness, while ensuring support systems align to successful completion, transfer, and/or immediate entry to the workforce.
The position provides leadership and overall direction to the following functions in the institution:
Admissions and Records, Advising, Financial Aid, Student Success Services, Veterans Services and other student success initiatives.

This position is responsible for overseeing the development of student success goals and objectives ensuring effective collaboration and coordination among all departments to meet new and on-going initiatives in achieving the College's mission.

  • A minimum of a master's degree in a related field
  • At least five years of progressively responsible leadership in enrollment, admissions, student retention, academic advisement, or financial aid
  • Strong knowledge of higher education market and societal trends affecting student recruitment and enrollment

  • Demonstrated commitment to student access, completion, transfer, and entry into the workforce
  • Knowledge of regional demographics and an understanding of student trends regarding educational interests and needs
  • Capable of innovative and inclusive collaboration and strategic thinking
  • Ability to facilitate cooperation through discussion and consensus building; analyze problems, identify alternate solutions, project consequences and proposed actions, synthesize information and implement recommendations in support of organizational goals
  • Identify and respond succinctly and professionally to public, senior level administrative and Board of Trustees issues and concerns with collegewide impact
  • Ability to provide leadership to implement institutional and divisional goals and strategic priorities

Job Duties

  • 1. Develop the vision and strategic direction for student recruitment efforts and have primary responsibility for implementing a strategic, entrepreneurial, and datadriven enrollment management plan.

Supervises employees to include:
prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.

  • Creates and maintains relationships with outside agencies for effective program development and implementation.
  • Provides leadership in securing alternative funding and maximizing existing resources.
  • Provides primary leadership in performing needs assessments, developing strategic objectives and organizational wide policies and procedures.
  • Manages and coordinates across campus and community functions.
  • Represents the college and executive members on statewide and local committees and boards.
  • Oversees the preparation of board, progress, task force and committee reports as well as presentational materials for meetings and events.
  • Develops and approves the organizational budget and expenditures.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned by the Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

Physical Requirements
